UNIVERSAL PRAYER AND THE ONENESS OF LIFE
The Upanishads elucidate the teaching that there is an evolutionary rhythm to the universe and this evolution has neither a beginning nor an end. Our universe is but a part of an infinite number of universes in the great cosmic chain and each universe is a standalone and yet, holds the link of both the cause and the effect of its being.
The universe is one being. Every star, planet, and man is but an atomic particle of this cosmic being and most probably at one time was a man with a degree of consciousness, spiritual vision, and power. All the cosmic entities encircling the universe were all at one time or the other manifested realities.
Manvantara is a compound of two words manu and antara meaning between the two manus and therefore, the period of activity of manifestation between the root manu and the seed manu. And thus, the Egg of Brahma has come to have a significant meaning.
Manu thus stands for entities that appear collectively at the beginning of the manifestation and throughout the ages they have learnt and progressed and further along the path was their leader, their parent, the source of their being.
By our thoughts and actions, we constantly reflect changes amongst ourselves and impact our surroundings thereby affecting the destiny of the suns and planets of the future. For when we discover and merge with the Divine within us, we become glorious suns resplendent in the cosmic universe where the stars and planets that revolve around us will be evolved entities who now are our fellow human beings. Consequently, the karmic relations that we have with each other on earth and on other globes of other planetary chains will most assuredly affect our destiny as well as their own.
Each one of us holds the promise of a sun within us, shining resplendent in space. This will happen only when we have evolved forth the divinity contained within our inner core and the divinity in turn proceeds to further evolutionary states of being.
For beyond the sun, there are other suns in other planetary chains so high and so vast that they remain invisible to us and incomprehensible to others and yet, such magnificence does exist for which our own sun is a divine attendant.
It is this understanding that we need to bring to the current topic that our universe is but a self-contained universe which is but a single cosmic cell in the body of a supercosmic entity which in turn is but infinitude of others. The great contains the small; the greatest contains the great and thus, universe proceeds according to the divine laws where everything lives for everything else.
Nothing can live alone and for itself. Every entity lives and sustains the All just as the All remains incomplete without a single entity and therefore has to sustain it in its turn.
The universe after passing through evolutionary stages of invisible worlds is born as they say into the material existence where steadily the expansion of consciousness takes place until the moment arrives when it takes a downward turn towards mutating into another form or into formlessness of the cosmos.
A universe comes into being because a cosmic entity is embodying itself and a universe dies because it has sought to achieve that for which its purpose has been created and seeks to pass onto invisible realms of being. The fundamental laws of nature prevails for man as it does for the universe; the greater and for the smaller. The difference lies merely in the details of existence and not in the principles of existence. The one enduring fact is that of pure, unalloyed consciousness.
How does this translate into an explanation of man’s existence? So man is born, grows into adulthood and maturity and carries him further towards death. The instant the physical clock stops ticking in the material universe, the consciousness of man is already making its way to other realms dictated by the purity of consciousness that determine how visible or invisible the future worlds remain. For, it is entirely possible that man’s journey would entail a descent into the physical, material universe once again or an ascent into invisible worlds of supreme consciousness.
The cosmic space is our home and where we go and where we are from is the heart and thus, we learn about the spiritual self within and seek to connect with that heartbeat that sustains the universe.
Thus, we percolate to the concept of universal brotherhood which every nation, civilisation brought forth at one time or another seeking harmony and balance and seeking to elevate the consciousness of man to achieve universal oneness without which we remain trapped in the material, physical plane of being. Yet, this doctrine is violated in every form and by every means left to man.
It behoves the question – why? We but don physical bodies with the same needs, we hunger, we thirst, we procreate, we attract diseases and we start decomposing. Medical science tells us decomposition begins the instant we are born and this decomposition throws out a vibration that in turn affects everybody and everything that comes within its radius.
Any student of physics will attest to this fact that we are made up of atoms which are constantly in motion and therefore, there is a constant transfusion of atomic power from one man to another affecting moods, consciousness, and states of being. Thus, history is replete with stories of how the saints have transformed unfortunate men and women, eliminating their physical disabilities and elevating their spiritual consciousness.
We contain within ourselves the Divine if we would but reach out to embrace the divinity we would have no need any more of a physical existence for then we would be pure wisdom, pure spirit transcending time, matter and space itself.
What prevents us from accepting this reality? Our limited understanding and our even meagre knowledge; for some have travelled this well-beaten path many-a-time and have garnered a semblance of intuitive understanding of this reality while others have but newly arrived to the path and with all the noisy powers of an infant insist their existence is limited to the material world.
So, here we come to the crux of the problem. Evolution is the law and none can violate it or transform its course. It takes its own time and its own pace. The law of evolution states that the Masters who are but highly evolved conscious souls and perfected human beings must await your arrival at their threshold before they share divine knowledge with you and give you the keys to the kingdom of your divine inheritance. Our insanity and ignorant fear prevents us from gaining our inheritance and claiming our birthright.
Universal brotherhood is a law of nature. It sustains the cosmic reality that we are all atoms obeying the law of atomic theory together. Being in denial of it doesn’t disprove the fact. It only tightens the noose around our miserable throats to spend eternities trapped in physical universes while ignoring a grandiose destiny that awaits us.
By now we might have a glimmering of the meaning of universal brotherhood which does not mean political unity or communal unity or even emotional unity but at its highest level where it most counts, it means spiritual unity.
For we are bound not just by blood and tissue but by the very fabric of the universe itself, in its warp and weft we exist springing forth from the cosmic source as sparks of divinity filled with the purpose of evolution.
If our meagre consciousness permits us to grasp this concept of universal brotherhood where the focus shifts from the external unities to the internal unity of being and consciousness we just might be able to glimmer an understanding of the mysteries of the universe.
We are all rooted in the same etheric cosmic essence journeying together from the primordial period of evolution since the dawn of time and the dissolution towards which we are all journeying back.
Thus comes into existence the interlocking chains of hierarchies of entities of which we are but an atomic speck that forms the visible and invisible worlds.
If our meditations are centred upon the fact of the oneness of being and of universal brotherhood our thoughts and actions wouldn’t be so limited and selfish but would be wholly cosmic centric and our consciousness would expand wider and wider so we can encompass universes.
Thus, we give or radiate our energy outwardly affecting only our family, our neighbours perhaps but with time and with expansion of consciousness we affect entire universes and entities in the cosmic space.
So we use our will power to dispel the illusions that prevent us from evolving and seeking our true infinite potential: the illusion that we are different from each other; superior or inferior; the illusion that we are only body on a mere physical plane of being. The only way to break this spiral of never-ending pain and suffering and abject ignorance is to overcome mind-numbing emotion and mediocre intelligence and listen to the vibrations of the heart.
Intense alertness and skilled subtlety is required for such an enterprise for awareness of divine vibrations is no easy task and one must always be aware of the pitfalls of illusions and deceptions. By the withdrawal of senses and by delving into an ocean of calm, veils will be removed, limits expand and boundaries implode as we reach in our consciousness to the Divine. Then we perceive beyond all mere physical senses the true essence of universal brotherhood for we begin to vibrate at the same intensity as the cosmic entities.
